District Determined Measures - DDMs
The Dracut Public Schools has formed a representative District Determined Measures/DDM committee consisting of administrators, teachers and specialists across content areas and grade levels.
This District Determined Measures/DDM webpage serves as a site for all information to be shared relevant to DDMs from the district, other districts and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The Department's dedicated DDM page has a wealth of resources from which to research: http://www.doe.mass.edu/edeval/ddm/

One of the firsts tasks of the DDM committee was to establish a framework of understanding around the broader purpose for creating DDMs. This resulted in the creation of a vision statement which emphasizes the importance of collaboration and continual conversations around student learning.
District-Determined Measures (DDMs) play a key role in Dracut Public Schools' development of common measures of student growth and in the new educator evaluation framework. These common measures across grade levels and subject areas provide an opportunity to begin, extend, and deepen conversations to identify student knowledge and learning patterns over time. DDM selection, through a defined collaborative and representative group process, affords the opportunity to broaden our understanding of the importance of continual assessment and the assessment process. Our goal is to create opportunities to gauge student growth and inform instructional practice in order to improve student performance.
